More about the news

Vine Ripe tomatoes by Ray & Mascari Inc. underwent a product recall due to Gordon Food Service Stores’ distribution spanning 11 states, beginning from New York and continuing to Illinois and Michigan and ending in Pennsylvania.

Ray & Mascari Inc. received notification from Hanshaw & Caping Farms of Immokalee, Florida, to recall their received batch of tomatoes, which they prepared as 4 Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes, because their facility showed signs of potential salmonella presence, according to the FDA report.

About Salmonella infection

Salmonella infection in people results in medical symptoms such as fever along with diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Serious salmonella disease has the potential to become life-threatening among young children and elderly adults who have weak immune systems, along with frail or elderly people, CBS News reported.

The FDA has urged consumers to dispose of their tomatoes or return products without opening them as no sicknesses have emerged from contaminated produce.

Williams Farms Repack LLC initiated a recall of tomatoes distributed through wholesalers between April 23-28, 2025, that were delivered to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia as per an FDA announcement.
